Feature Kitchen: Credential Management
As workflow builders, we love n8n's flexibility — but as an admin, that same flexibility can create headaches. Users can create, share, and use credentials in many different ways, which adds complexity when auditing credential use and enforcing org-wide security policy as your organization and n8n usage grow.
In this Feature Kitchen, we'll walk through the credential setup and management options available today — from fixed credentials, end-user credentials, and managed auth, to credential overwrites, external secrets, policy settings, custom roles, sharing, and data redaction. We'll also share what we're thinking about next, like finer-grained credential access and more centralized management.
We want to hear how you're managing credentials at scale today, where the current model breaks down, and what would make it easier to keep builders moving fast without compromising security or privacy.
