Transcribe podcast RSS episodes to Google Docs with Apify Whisper

Quick Overview

This workflow runs daily to read a podcast RSS feed, transcribe new episode audio with Apify’s Whisper-based transcriber, and save each transcript into a new Google Doc in a chosen Google Drive folder.

How it works

  1. Runs every day on a schedule.
  2. Reads the configured podcast RSS feed and keeps only the newest episodes based on your limit.
  3. Skips episodes that were already processed in previous executions using the episode GUID or enclosure URL.
  4. Sends each new episode’s audio URL to Apify to start a transcription run and polls Apify until the run finishes.
  5. Downloads the transcript from the Apify dataset and keeps only successful transcription results.
  6. Creates a Google Doc per episode in the target folder and inserts the source URL, language, billed minutes, and full transcript text.

Setup

  1. Add an Apify API token as an HTTP Header Auth credential (Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN) and select it on the Apify HTTP Request steps.
  2. Add a Google Docs OAuth2 credential and ensure it has access to the destination Google Drive folder.
  3. In the Settings step, set the podcast RSS feed URL, the number of recent episodes to check, the Whisper model, and your Google Drive folder ID.
