Quick overview
For marketing teams and SEO specialists who track their brand with Searcherries. Every Monday the workflow compares your AI visibility in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Claude and Grok with last week, alerts Slack when you lose ground and emails an OpenAI-written report.
How it works
- Runs every Monday at 8:00 on a scheduled trigger.
- Creates (or reuses) an n8n Data Table to store weekly Searcherries snapshots and then fetches your Searcherries project list via the Searcherries REST API.
- Matches the configured brand name or project ID to a single Searcherries project and stops with an error if no match is found.
- Retrieves the visibility summary, competitor ranking, answers where AI platforms leave the brand out or mention it only in passing, and the most cited domains from the Searcherries REST API.
- Compares this week's metrics with the last saved snapshot and builds an alert when named share drops, a competitor gains or appears, or a new question leaves the brand out.
- Sends a Slack message to the configured channel when an alert is triggered.
- Uses OpenAI to write a Markdown weekly report from the comparison data, converts it to HTML and emails it. This week's snapshot is saved to the Data Table for the next comparison.
Setup
- In Searcherries, open MCP → Other clients → Access tokens and create a token. In n8n, add it as a Bearer Auth credential and select it in the five Searcherries HTTP Request nodes.
- Add an OpenAI API credential for the chat model, a Slack API credential (a bot token with the chat:write scope, with the bot invited to the channel) and an SMTP credential for the email.
- In Configure Report Settings, set the project (brand name or project ID), the report and sender emails, the Slack channel and the alert thresholds. Run the workflow once. The first run creates the history table and saves the baseline, so alerts start from the second week.
Requirements
- A Searcherries Starter or Pro plan (AI visibility tracking)
- An OpenAI API key, or another chat model
- A Slack workspace with a bot token that has chat:write
- An SMTP account for the email report
- n8n Cloud or a recent self-hosted n8n with Data tables
Customization
- Change alert_drop_points and competitor_gain_points to make alerts more or less sensitive
- Change the day and time in the Every Monday at 8AM trigger
- Replace the OpenAI Chat Model with another chat model, or Email Weekly Report with Gmail or Outlook
- Edit the prompt in Write Weekly Report to change the report sections or language
- Delete the Slack branch if the weekly email is enough
Additional info
The Searcherries REST API is read-only, so the workflow never changes your project. Numbers come from Searcherries' stored checks: the main tracked question is checked daily, the others weekly. API docs: https://searcherries.com/docs/api/overview
