Reach small businesses by phone and manage replies with Odile Direct

Quick Overview

This workflow runs manually to look up a business phone number in Odile Direct and, if the number is a participating listing, sends a structured “take_message” request with a caller name, callback number, and message need, then returns the delivery state from the task result.

How it works

  1. Runs when you click Test workflow in n8n.
  2. Sets the business phone number, caller name, callback number, and message details to send.
  3. Calls the Odile Direct resolve endpoint to check whether the phone number maps to a participating business and retrieves its agent card URL.
  4. If the resolve call succeeds (HTTP 200), sends a JSON-RPC SendMessage request to the business’s agent endpoint to leave a message for a person.
  5. Extracts the task delivery state, a delivered boolean (true only for TASK_STATE_COMPLETED), and any callback_check value from the Odile response.
  6. If the resolve call does not succeed, returns a message indicating the number is not on Odile Direct and nothing is sent.

Setup

  1. Update the values in Request details, including the business phone number in E.164 format and a real caller name, callback number, and message need.
  2. Ensure the callback number is the caller’s own number (distinct from the business number) and that you have permission to contact the business.
  3. If you exceed free limits, add the required Odile Direct authentication (if applicable for your account) and adjust the HTTP Request nodes accordingly.
