Generate vertical AI videos with OpenAI, Grok Imagine, fal.ai and Google Drive

Quick Overview

This workflow collects a video idea via an n8n Form, uses OpenAI to turn it into a vertical video prompt, generates a short clip with fal.ai (xAI Grok Imagine Video), then downloads the MP4 and saves it to Google Drive.

How it works

  1. Receives a submission from an n8n Form with the video idea, style, and desired length.
  2. Uses OpenAI to rewrite the idea into a single detailed 9:16 video prompt and a clean filename in JSON format.
  3. Builds a fal.ai text-to-video request (duration, 9:16 aspect ratio, 720p resolution) and starts the render job via the fal.ai queue API.
  4. Polls the fal.ai status URL every configured interval until the job completes or the maximum number of checks is reached.
  5. When rendering is complete, fetches the output URL, downloads the MP4 file, and uploads it to the selected Google Drive folder.

Setup

  1. Add an OpenAI credential for the prompt-writing step and ensure the selected model is available to your account.
  2. Create a fal.ai API key and configure an HTTP Header Auth credential using Authorization: Key YOUR_FAL_KEY, then select it for the fal.ai requests.
  3. Add a Google Drive OAuth credential and choose the target Drive and folder where the MP4 should be saved.
  4. Publish the workflow and use the form’s production URL to submit video ideas.
