Quick overview

This workflow runs manually to fetch a public WeChat Official Account article via the ReadGZH API, validates the response as Markdown, and outputs a downloadable UTF-8 .md file.

How it works

  1. Runs when you start the workflow manually.
  2. Takes a WeChat article URL (or a ReadGZH /s/ share URL) provided in the workflow settings and validates that it matches the expected format.
  3. Calls the ReadGZH API (api.readgzh.site) to retrieve the article content as Markdown text.
  4. Verifies the API response looks like valid Markdown, extracts the article title, and generates a safe file name.
  5. Converts the Markdown text into a UTF-8 Markdown file and exposes it as binary output for download.

Setup

  1. Paste a public https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/... article URL (or https://readgzh.site/s/... share URL) into the articleUrl field in the workflow’s settings.
  2. Ensure your n8n instance can make outbound HTTPS requests to api.readgzh.site.
  3. For higher quotas, select Generic Credential Type → Header Auth on the HTTP Request node. Create a credential with header name Authorization and value Bearer followed by your ReadGZH API key. Keep the key in credentials, never in the shared workflow JSON. Run manually and download the final node’s binary data output.

Requirements

  • n8n with outbound HTTPS access. Anonymous requests share an IP-based quota; uncached article extraction may consume ReadGZH credits. Images remain remote links, and deleted or restricted articles may fail.

Customization

  • Connect the binary file output to your preferred storage node, or pass the Markdown text from Check article response to your AI workflow. Compare the title, ending, tables, and image-dependent passages with the original before relying on a summary.
