Create customer year-in-review videos with Claude Opus and Shotstack

Quick overview

Send every customer their own year in review this December. One CSV row per customer in, a 20-second vertical recap out: their name, their numbers, bold slides in your brand colours, music and a voiceover timed to every slide. About 1 Shotstack credit per video. Self-hosted n8n only.

How it works

  1. Downloads Shotstack's guide for AI agents once, then reads recaps.csv, one customer at a time.
  2. Claude Opus 5.5 writes the whole Shotstack edit from the customer's facts and a plain-English brief: 5 or 6 slides with big numbers, motion graphics, a track from Shotstack's music library and a voiceover with one sentence per slide.
  3. Shotstack makes the voiceover with ElevenLabs and transcribes it, and a Code step moves each slide to the moment its sentence is spoken, so the words on screen always match the voice.
  4. A Code step checks the edit before anything costs money. It fixes small things itself and sends anything else back to Claude.
  5. Shotstack renders the recap and saves it to the recaps folder. If Shotstack turns the edit down or the render fails, Claude fixes it, up to twice.

Setup

  1. Install the Shotstack community node from the nodes panel or Settings → Community nodes, then import this workflow.
  2. Add your Anthropic API key to Claude and Claude (fixes), and your Shotstack API key to Make the voice, Transcribe the voice, Check the transcript, Make the video and Check the render. Free trial: https://shotstack.io/?utm_source=n8n&utm_medium=template&utm_campaign=customer-recaps&utm_content=description
  3. Fill in Your business: the name, the year and your brand colours.
  4. Save recaps.csv in n8n's files folder (/home/node/.n8n-files in Docker) with two columns, Name and Their year, the facts separated by semicolons. Make an empty recaps folder next to it.
  5. Click Execute workflow. Each recap takes 2 to 5 minutes.

Requirements

  • Self-hosted n8n, version 2 or later, because the workflow saves files on disk
  • The Shotstack community node, any version
  • An Anthropic API key. Claude Opus 5.5 works best
  • A Shotstack API key. The free trial's 10 credits cover about ten recaps

Customization

  • Change the length, the slides or the style in the brief in Claude makes the video
  • Read customers from Google Sheets, your CRM or Stripe instead of a CSV
  • Email each recap with the Gmail or SendGrid node instead of saving it on disk

Additional info

Each recap costs about 1 Shotstack credit (the voiceover, its transcript and the render; the music comes from Shotstack's free library), plus your Claude usage. Claude only states the facts in your CSV.
