Create consistent character episodes from a form with GenMagic, Google Drive and Sheets

Quick overview

Turn a short brief into a finished episode of an animated series: an AI-written script, a character sheet, a keyframe and a 5-second clip per scene that keep the character identical, and a voiceover per scene, saved to Google Drive and logged in Google Sheets.

How it works

  1. When Episode Brief Submitted collects the character description, a visual style, the episode premise, the number of scenes (1 to 8), the narration language and the format (16:9 or 9:16).
  2. Generate Episode Script asks a GenMagic text model for the episode as JSON: a title, a logline and, per scene, the action, the camera move and one or two lines of narration in your language. Parse Episode Script checks the JSON and sets the image and clip format, and Append Episode to Sheets adds the episode to the Episodes tab of your sheet.
  3. Generate Character Sheet draws the character once with Nano Banana (front and three-quarter view on a plain background) and Save Character Sheet to Drive puts it in your Drive folder as the series reference.
  4. Plan Shot List turns the script into one item per scene. Generate Keyframe Drawing draws each scene with the sheet as its reference image, and Generate Keyframe Animation makes a 5-second clip with Seedance 2.0 Mini using both the sheet and the keyframe as references, so face, outfit and colours hold from scene to scene. Save Animation Clip to Drive stores each clip in Drive.
  5. Generate Voice Narration turns each scene's narration into speech, Save Voiceover to Drive stores it, and Construct Scene Data plus Append Scene to Sheets write each scene to the Scenes tab with its keyframe, clip and voiceover links and what it cost.

Setup

  1. Install the GenMagic node: open the nodes panel, search for GenMagic and install it from More from the community (on self-hosted n8n you can also install the package n8n-nodes-genmagic under Settings, Community Nodes).
  2. Create a free GenMagic account and an API key at https://genmagic.co/get-api-key?utm_source=n8n&utm_medium=template&utm_campaign=character-episode and choose it as the GenMagic API credential on the five GenMagic nodes. n8n checks the key by reading your balance, which costs nothing.
  3. Connect Google Drive in the three Save to Drive nodes, and pick the folder for the episode files.
  4. Create a Google Sheet with two tabs. Episodes: Title, Logline, Character, Style, Scenes, Started. Scenes: Episode, Scene, Action, Narration, Keyframe, Clip, Voiceover, Cost (USD). Connect Google Sheets in Append Episode to Sheets and Append Scene to Sheets and pick the matching tab.
  5. Activate the workflow, open the form URL from When Episode Brief Submitted and submit your first brief.

Requirements

  • n8n (Cloud or self-hosted) with the verified GenMagic community node installed
  • A GenMagic account and API key; new verified accounts get free starter credit, and at today's prices a 4-scene episode costs about $1.30 (four 5-second 480p clips are most of it)
  • A Google account for Google Drive and Google Sheets

Customization

  • Pick any image, video or speech model GenMagic offers in each node (the Model field): a cheaper image model for drafts, Veo 3.1 or Kling for final clips, or another voice in Generate Voice Narration
  • Change the clip length or resolution in Generate Keyframe Animation, or turn on Generate Audio for ambient sound
  • Keep one character across a whole series by reusing the same character sheet URL in Plan Shot List instead of drawing a new one per episode
  • Replace the form with a Google Sheets trigger to produce one episode per row, or add a posting node after Append Scene to Sheets to publish the clips
