Mine Amazon and Flipkart reviews with Rainforest API, Apify, GPT-4o-mini, Sheets and Slack

Quick overview

This workflow runs weekly or on demand to collect Amazon (Rainforest API) and Flipkart (Apify) product reviews plus optional imported reviews from Google Sheets, classifies complaint themes with OpenAI, stores insights back in Google Sheets, and posts urgent alerts and a weekly listing-fix digest to Slack with Q&A bot.

How it works

  1. Runs every Monday at 7 AM IST or starts when a user submits the n8n form to process one product or all active products.
  2. Loads product and review history data from Google Sheets, then builds Amazon (ASIN) and Flipkart (product URL) sources for each active product.
  3. Fetches recent Amazon reviews via the Rainforest API, fetches Flipkart reviews via an Apify actor, and optionally reads additional pasted reviews from the Imported Reviews Google Sheets tab.
  4. Normalizes and merges reviews, filters out short/invalid/old entries, and identifies new reviews by comparing review IDs against the Review History sheet.
  5. Sends new reviews to OpenAI (gpt-4o-mini) in per-product batches to tag each review with complaint theme, sentiment, severity, action type, and a supporting quote, then appends the results to the Review Insights and Review History sheets.
  6. Posts an immediate Slack alert for severe low-rated complaints or any safety/health issue.
  7. Analyzes the last 90 days of insights to rank each product’s top complaint themes and trends, then uses OpenAI (gpt-4o-mini) to generate evidence-based listing rewrites and product/packaging fix suggestions.
  8. Saves suggestions to the Listing Suggestions sheet and posts a weekly prioritized digest to Slack, while also answering Slack @mentions using an OpenAI agent that reads the Insights and Suggestions sheets.

Setup

  1. Add credentials for Rainforest API (HTTP Query Auth with parameter name api_key), Apify (HTTP Header Auth with Authorization: Bearer <token>), OpenAI, Google Sheets, and Slack (including permissions for posting messages and receiving app mentions).
  2. Create a Google Sheets document with tabs named Products, Imported Reviews, Review History, Review Insights, and Listing Suggestions, then replace all REPLACE_WITH_GOOGLE_SHEET_ID values and ensure your Products tab includes fields like product_id, product_title, asin, flipkart_pid, listing_title, and listing_bullets.
  3. Update Slack channel IDs (REPLACE_WITH_SLACK_CHANNEL_ID) for urgent alerts and the weekly digest, and install/configure the Slack app so @mentions trigger the workflow.
  4. Set your Apify actor ID and review limits in the configuration step (for example the flipkart_actor, lookback days, and per-run review limits).
  5. (Optional) Populate the Imported Reviews tab with review_id, product_id, marketplace, rating, title, text, and date to include reviews from other sources.
