Turn articles into Instagram and LinkedIn carousels with GenMagic, Google Drive and Google Sheets

Quick overview

Paste an article URL and describe your brand's look to get a ready-to-post carousel: GenMagic writes the slides and a caption from the article, draws one style frame, then draws every slide from it so they share one layout, saved to Google Drive and logged in Google Sheets.

How it works

1. When Article Submitted collects the article URL, the number of slides (3 to 10), your brand look (colours, type feel, illustration style) and the language of the slides.
2. Fetch Article downloads the page and Extract Article Text keeps the readable text and title, so the slides stay faithful to the source.
3. Generate Carousel Script asks a GenMagic text model for the carousel as JSON: a hook slide, one point per slide, a closing slide that sends people to the article, plus a caption and hashtags.
4. Generate Style Frame draws one square template in your brand look with Nano Banana. Split Slides turns the script into one item per slide, each carrying that frame.
5. Generate Slide Image draws each slide with the style frame as its reference image, with the headline and body text spelled on the slide, and Save Slide to Drive stores it.
6. Collect Carousel gathers the slide links, caption and cost, and Append Carousel to Sheets logs the carousel as one row.

Setup

1. Install the GenMagic node: open the nodes panel, search for GenMagic and install it from More from the community (on self-hosted n8n you can also install the package n8n-nodes-genmagic under Settings, Community Nodes).
2. Create a free GenMagic account and an API key at https://genmagic.co/get-api-key?utm_source=n8n&utm_medium=template&utm_campaign=article-carousel and choose it as the GenMagic API credential on the three GenMagic nodes. n8n checks the key by reading your balance, which costs nothing.
3. Connect Google Drive in Save Slide to Drive and pick the folder for the slides.
4. Create a Google Sheet with the columns Title, Article, Slides, Caption, Slide links, Cost (USD), Created, connect Google Sheets in Append Carousel to Sheets and select it.
5. Activate the workflow, open the form URL from When Article Submitted and submit an article that opens without a login.

Requirements

• n8n (Cloud or self-hosted) with the verified GenMagic community node installed
• A GenMagic account and API key; new verified accounts get free starter credit, and at today's prices a 7-slide carousel costs about $0.45
• A Google account for Google Drive and Google Sheets

Customization

• Use GPT Image in Generate Slide Image for the crispest lettering, or the portrait size for Stories
• Change the slide rules, tone or call to action in the prompt of Generate Carousel Script
• Replace the form with an RSS or Google Sheets trigger to make a carousel for every new post
• Add a posting or approval step after Append Carousel to Sheets, such as a Slack message with the slide links
